2016 in review

The highlight of the year was a season as Musical Director with Opera Queensland, in association with La Boîte Theatre Company, presenting a new take on Snow White, with new music by Zulia Kamalova, and featuring Silvia Colloca and Kanen Breen. This was followed by another joyful season with Women In Voice.  I’ve been involved in some wonderful recording projects - Leigh Carriage’s Weave, and soon to be released CDs from Jack Thorncraft and Thierry Fossemalle. In response to the sad decline in the health of Queensland rock legend Carol Lloyd (Railroad Gin), Queensland Music Festival, Women In Voice Presents and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre combined forces to present a gala benefit, presenting me with the opportunity to write for and conduct the wonderful St John’s Camerata.  Other standout gigs for the year included performances of The Pleasure Of Sad Songs with Leah Cotterell, Brisbane Jazz Club appearances with Leigh Carriage, Jamie Clarke, Helen and Sharny Russell and Adrian Cunningham, gigs with John Hoffman and Elly Hoyt.......AND I went to see the Punch Brothers Band and Steve Gadd!
